My research interests include the regulation of female reproductive function in physiological and pathological conditions, with particular emphasis on the functioning of the organs of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis and the placenta. In my scientific work, I investigate the role of hormonal factors (e.g. adipokines, neuropeptides) and environmental factors (e.g. polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) on endocrine function, proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, angiogenesis, cell signaling, in vitro maturation of oocytes and the global transcriptome and proteome of HPO. Another aspect of research is the pathophysiology of the reproductive system, including the molecular changes occurring in the reproductive system in polycystic ovary syndrome.
