Dr Karen Reader is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pathology at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. She is a reproductive biologist researching assisted reproductive technologies in humans and livestock, and ovarian and prostate cancer. Her research is focused on the identification of factors important for oocyte quality that can be manipulated to improve in vitro maturation and oocyte quality. Karen’s other area of research examines the role of members of the transforming growth factor beta (TGFB) family of proteins in reproductive cancers with the aim of identifying novel diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets.
