Dr. Joanna E. Burdette earned her B.S. from Emory University and her Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She was a postdoctoral with Dr. Teresa K. Woodruff. She is the Mika Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Dean for Research. Her research develop models of the fallopian tube to define early events in ovarian cancer. She uses organ-on-chip technology and imaging mass spectrometry to investigate the origin of ovarian cancer. She is co-leader of the Cancer Biology Program of the UIC Cancer Center and co-director of the NIH K12 IRACDA.
