My name is Jayasri Basu and as you know that detection of Hunan Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) exposure in the absence of HIV antibodies in the blood was previously unknown. My study conclusively showed that HIV antigens and RNA can be detected in genital tract secretions, and HIV p24 antigen can be detected in cervix tissue of sexually active HIV seronegative women. Cervicovaginal lavage sampling could be a tool in screening for HIV exposure and infection in asymptomatic women who are unaware of their HIV exposure or never had HIV positive results.
