Assistant Research Professor
University of Missouri
Michal Zigo, PhD is an assistant research professor at the Division of Animal Sciences of the University of Missouri trained in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology. My field of research is reproductive biology with a specific focus on male fertility, sperm function, and fertilization. I have been advancing our understanding of how the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS), the universal protein recycling machinery, regulates the process of sperm capacitation necessary for sperm ability to fertilize eggs in humans and animals. I have published 30 peer-reviewed papers reaching 500 citations (h-index =11). I act as a board member for Discover Life journal.
